The St Andrew Society of York is a member of the Burns Federation Yorkshire District and in April each year members enjoy attending the ‘Tartan Ball’, usually held at the Holiday Inn, Dodworth, Barnsley.
The annual bowls day is also popular with Yorkshire Scots and this year York were winners of the Bowls Competition.
Congratulations to York member Murray Halliday on becoming Vice-President of RBWF Yorkshire District and we wish him well in this role. He is seen here receiving the chain of office from President Ann Macaskill.

Jim Robertson reports that for the first time since the 1980’s, York won the Bowls Competition, winning all their games! (team: Murray Halliday & Jim Robertson). Bradford, who won last year, were second. Bradford did however have success in winning the quiz competition. Jim & Murray are seen here receiving the Bowls Winners Cup from President Ann Macaskill.

The annual conference due to be held over the weekend of 4th-6th September regrettably has had to be cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

A group from the Yorkshire District attended the Bi-Centenary Dinner of the Dumfries Burns Club on Saturday 18th January. This picture shows President Ann Macaskill (second from right) with RBWF President Brian Goldie, with other members including Jim & Anne Murison from York.

The immortal memory was given by Brian Goldie and other notable speakers included Baroness Annabel Goldie and Rt. Hon. David Mundell, MP

We were treated to some lovely Scottish entertainment after the dinner with folk group 'Ragged Glory', the highlight.
