Christmas Music Production
The Ladies Circle organised a trip for all members to attend a charity Christmas Music Production at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre in York.
The event was attended by 28 members and friends and was a most enjoyable evening.
A lovely way to kick-start the Christmas festivities!
Carlston Hill Farm - Annual Apple Harvest
Working and learning with nature for a better life
Living Potential, based on a working farm on the banks of the river Wharfe near Sicklinghall, Wetherby, is a community interest company, set up to be a non-profit social enterprise. It is run by a team of staff and volunteers who have many years of experience, teaching and working in a variety of environments and who have seen first-hand the therapeutic effects of nature-based interventions. In early October, they held an Annual Apple Harvest event and offered the Society the opportunity to host an information stand to seek potential new members. President Frank Paterson and Ladies Circle Chair Helen Porter hosted the stand on behalf of the society. The event attracted hundreds of visitors but sadly no new members for our society so far! Nevertheless Frank reported

Two Cake Surprise for Joan!
Joan Magee celebrated with two cakes on Tuesday 19th August!
One was for Joan's 75th birthday and the other was to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary with husband David.
Joan & David were joined by family and friends at a Garden Party at their home in Knaresborough, with a sumptuous Hog Roast BBQ, and musical entertainment provided by The Red Sky Ukulele Band.
President for 2025/26
The President for 2025/26 is Frank Paterson who follows on from Jim Robertson.
This is the second time that Frank has had the privilege of being President of the society - he was also President for the 1989/90 membership year.
Frank will be ably supported throughout the year by his President Elect - Aileen Minns

Cheque Presentation to Martin House
At the recent AGM, outgoing 2024/25 President Jim Robertson was delighted to present a cheque to Bethany Sampson from the Martin House Children's Hospice Fundraising Team for £1600. This amount was raised by society members over the past 12 months by various fund raising activities held at our social events to support Jim's chosen charity for the year -
Martin House Children's Hospice.
Presentations to Jim Murison & Helen Porter
Also at the recent AGM, presentations were made to two hard-working and passionate supporters who have stepped down from key roles within the society - Jim Murison retiring this year after 5 years as Honorary Secretary and Helen Porter who stood down last year after 5 years as Honorary Treasurer.
To thank both individuals, the society presented Jim with an engraved pewter quaich and Helen received an engraved vase decorated with thistles!

New Additional Logo Chosen at AGM
A new additional logo (shown below) was selected by those members who attended the AGM in May - it is intended that this new logo will be used on the website and newsletters but will not replace our original logo depicting an image of Saint Andrew.
Honorary Membership Award for Ron Robb
In June 2023, Ron Robb received Honorary Membership of the Society in recognition of many years of service to the Society and for serving as President in 1987-88.
2023 President Grant Young presented Ron with his Certificate accompanied by members and friends of the Society.
Society Piper Jim Sharpe provided accompaniment on the bagpipes.
Following the presentation, all were generously served scones, teas and coffees by the staff at Ouse View Care Home.
